Original Joe’s Westlake is a full-service restaurant in Daly City that blends Italian and American classics within a spacious, casually sophisticated setting. The atmosphere nods to mid-century influences, with subtle retro touches that make it feel like stepping into a comfortably familiar neighborhood spot rather than a corporate chain. It’s the kind of place where groups gather for everything from celebratory dinners to casual weekend brunches, and the sizable layout—including a separate bar area—means it can comfortably accommodate both lively parties and quieter meals.

Food here leans on recognizable Italian-American dishes executed with care and balanced flavors. Starters like the fried calamari offer a crisp, well-seasoned bite with house-made dipping sauces that add a touch of personality. Mains run the gamut from tender prime rib—served with soft, buttery bread—to classic pastas like linguini with clams in white wine sauce and meat ravioli with Parmesan. Those looking for something lighter might appreciate the variety of entrée salads featuring fresh greens and quality proteins like grilled chicken or Bay shrimp.

Visitors often highlight the attentive and welcoming service, noting staff who make an effort to accommodate everything from early arrivals to special occasions with thoughtful touches. The roomy dining space fills up quickly on weekend evenings, so planning for a slightly earlier time can make for a more relaxed experience. The bar area adds an additional layer to the vibe, where locals might catch a game with cocktails like the espresso martini, especially during sports nights or festive occasions.

This spot will appeal to people who appreciate classic dishes with straightforward flavors in a setting that feels both lively and approachable. Families, groups of friends, and couples celebrating milestones all find something to enjoy here. Whether dropping by for a casual hamburger sandwich or indulging in a slice of Joe’s Warm Butter Cake for dessert, Original Joe’s Westlake fits naturally into the local dining scene as a reliable spot that knows how to keep things comfortable yet satisfying.

I can't believe I haven't written a review for Original Joe's Westlake yet. We've celebrated some of the most special occasions here - from my rehearsal dinner to friends' birthdays to just grabbing drinks with the girls. Whether brunch or dinner, you will always find something worthwhile to Original Joe's Westlake. I love the old-timey vibes - like you're stepping into the 1950s. The renovations made it look even more swanky and old-timey. It's usually crowded so make sure to get reservations. The service is experienced, and they will get you in and out like professionals.

We came to Original Joe’s for a birthday celebration, and they set the tone right away by seating us a little earlier than our reservation—such a thoughtful touch since we arrived ahead of schedule. The food was spot-on. My steak was cooked perfectly medium (a rare win these days), seasoned so well I didn’t even think about adding sauce. Everyone at the table loved their dishes.. both of our Steak Ala Bruno (one cooked medium & one cooked medium rare )and the Chicken Piccata were outstanding. Even the sides were flawless. The mashed potatoes were creamy, and the broccolini had that perfect tender-crisp bite. They nail it every single time. Parking was easy, service was smooth, and we genuinely had such a lovely evening. Original Joe’s continues to be one of our tried-and-true favorites. Highly recommend.

Original Joe’s Westlake is absolutely fantastic! Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. It’s such a warm and welcoming place — perfect for a family gathering or a special night out. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in San Francisco, and I’ll definitely be coming back next time I visit!

We were lucky to sneak in before the Friday dinner rush hit! We started with the calamari which was breaded just enough, nice and crispy and the tarter and cocktail sauce were definitely in house creations! The cocktail sauce was a tad spicy with a strong horseradish kick! The linguini pesto was light and creamy and very tasty The beef ravioli was also very delicious but by the time I was ready for it my tummy was full! We were also lucky enough to get some butter cake as well. We managed to eat half of it even being very full already! We will definitely be back!

This original Joe’s location has a very spacious restaurant with separate bar area for catching a game. Holiday decor and cheerful music filled the dining area it was packed on a Thursday eve. Ordered the prime rib dip comes with fries on the side. Soft buttery bread and tender prime rib didn’t disappoint Also tried the fillet of sole with side of house made ravioli. Ordered a festive drink Noel’s Nog. Had an enjoyable meal. Service is top notch I say check it out.

Solid place to come for good Italian food. It’s always packed so you need reservations. Staff is nice and attentive, atmosphere is good. Had the sole with mash and broccolini sides. Can’t go wrong. A little too much salt for me but I don’t like a lot of salt.

I’m convinced this is the perfect restaurant. The service is impeccable, every dish is fantastic and the decor can transport you to mid-century in the best way. My favorite is the filet of sole piccata but the steaks are fantastic as well, to say nothing of the pasta dishes which are also second to none. The bloody Joe goes with anything. The butter cake desert is otherworldly. It simply doesn’t get better.

This is such a great restaurant, atmosphere, and according experience. It's hard to describe but the place is packed but in a good way. It reminds me of a 70's diner that has a 21st century mindset. The portions are big, they cocktails are great and Cory our server was the utmost professional and was always checking in with us. There is a reason why the place is so popular.
